I'm essentially an internet entrepreneur. Before the NBN came along we were a couple
of IT guys and we were just working on people's computers and doing what IT guys do. We're
located in Brunswick. We actually moved here two years ago when we heard that fibre to
the home was going to be rolled out in this area and we saw a really bright future for
us if we were to move into an area that had that service. We could take advantage of it
and offer a lot more services to our clients than we previously could. Primarily what my
company focuses on is telehealth. So that means creating communication streams for doctors
to communicate with patients and also doctors to communicate with specialists to share knowledge
and to assist in the healing process of patients who may be too far away from medical professionals
who can help them in their local area. It is my belief that as the NBN rolls out to
more and more specialist positions we're going to see a real trend in the way that medical
care is delivered. We've seen the benefits of what specialist neurologists being able
to beam live into an operating theatre or emergency department in Bendigo have done.
They're making great strides there. I think we've only just touched the surface. I think
there's a lot more to come.
