I had a total knee replacement.
Knee replacement.
I had a total knee replacement.
I had bilateral knee replacements.
I had total knee replacement.
I'm doing great.
I went to Community South.
In the last two or three years I had a lot of pain, and I couldn't walk very well.
I had been putting this off for about ten years, and finally I got tired of dragging
my foot and everything else. I was tired of hurting so I finally got it done.
My knee was swollen from arthritis, and it was in bad shape.
I had a lot of osteoarthritis, a lot of pain that wasn't going to get better on its own.
I had been seeing Dr. Julian for five years and we tried several things through those
five years. When we had exhausted all of our choices, then I went with the total knee replacement.
Everybody was just great and they made sure that you understood everything that was going
to happen.
The discussions with the doctor's office, you always felt that his assistant was accessible.
I think they had an awesome initiative program about doing what you're supposed to do.
You always felt that you had contact, on a daily basis if you needed it.
They had a program, that if you walked two thousand feet, that you would get a gold medal.
Well, I got a gold medal.
For surgery, it was fun.
The whole thing was a positive experience. As soon as I got up with my new knee I knew
that it was only going to get better from there.
Community Hospital is wonderful. It's the only place I've ever been for any surgery
and this was a good experience.
I'd recommend that if you have that much pain, get it done.
You have got to do your physical therapy afterwards, and it's not the most pleasant thing at first,
but you have to do that.
My pain, and I hope if you were going to do this your pain would be the same as mine,
was not near what I was going through before I had the surgery.
You'll know when it's time to go. I think a lot of people put up with pain too long.
Don't hesitate. Sure it sounds a little scary at first, but go for it.
Just being able to do my housework, to get out and walk, to do the groceries, and anything
without the pain that I had in my knee.
I can walk without hurrying, and that's the main thing.
I'm glad that I had the surgery because my knee does not hurt now, and it feels wonderful.
I'm back to walking and doing whatever I want to do whenever I want to do it.
Week two I was back on the tractor. I have five acres to mow every four days and I was
back doing that.
I gave up my pain on independence day. I don't need it anymore.
It's wonderful. It can only get better from here.
