Ok, so the Rule Of The 4 R's for selecting a remodeler
The first R Referral
Ask neighbors and friends for names of remodelers who they've used and who they've been happy
with.
The second R is references
Assuming you're getting more than 1 estimate for the remodeling project, you want to ask
every single remodeler that you meet for references.
And the key to this one is...you actually have to call them!
Issues come up in every remodeling project. The important thing to ask is how did the
remodeler handle the issues when they arose.
Ask people you talk to what was the best part and what was the worst part of working with
the remodeler.
The third R, Rapport.
Your remodeler doesn't have to be your best friend but a good rapport with your remodeler
gnerally means that you will be more open to communicating with them.
A good way to build rapport with your remodeler is check them out online. Are they active
on Facebook? Do they have a blog? See what they're saying online, and see if you like
what they're saying.
Ok, the final R. One of the most important things. Right Pricing.
Some people say to take the highest and lowest bids you receive and throw them out. We say
to take the time to read all the estimates you receive thoroughly. And it does take time.
Make sure they've included sufficient pricing for all the selections that you've already
discussed with them. Look for any extremely high or extremely low items that may raise
a red flag.
And although price is an important factor, it shouldn't be the only factor in your decision.
