Hi, I'm Kevin
from skis.com. This video is designed to help explain the differences
between men's and women's ski boots. Obviously, men and women are not built the same.
One of the biggest differences is that women
tend to have shorter legs, therefore, it sets their calves lower in the boots.
When they try to wear men's boots this typically cuts off a lot of their circulation and leads
to cold feet. Women's boots are designed with shorter, upper cuffs to help
accommodate for this difference. It provides maximum comfort and warmth
for all day, on the hill. The next major difference
is going to be the way the foot's built. Women tend to have narrower heels
with a wider forefoot. Women's boots are built to accommodate for this so
they get maximum heel hold for maximum control of their boots
and their skis. Another one is that women tend to run a
little bit colder than men. The manufacturers accommodate this by adding extra
insulation to boots. Warm feet makes a happy skier.
Next is the ramp angle. Women tend
to carry their weight more in their hips; with men we carry ours in our chest.
That makes women tend to sit back in the back seat a lot of time.
Manufacturers will increase the ramp angle of the boot board to help women get forward over
their tips and control their skis much easier. I hope this helps
in guiding you towards the proper selection for finding a women's boot for yourself.
