>> David Rowell Hi, my name is David Rowell and I am an assistant
professor with the Sport, Art, and Entertainment Management program at Point Park University.
My teaching style is a very hands-on with a mix of theory and practical. I believe that students need to not only learn why something works, but how it
works because if they have both, then there is a much stronger chance of succeeding and being able
to apply the theories that they might learn in the classroom in the reality of the working world.
When I look at my areas of expertise, I have had the wonderful opportunity to work at a lot of different
areas of performing arts, arts management, and theater management. I started out as a performer and so I have experience in performance as an actor and as a dancer,
was never really a singer, but I was able to fake that. But, when I moved into the management side of
things, my area of expertise became facility management, programming for presenting organizations, marketing, and fundraising.
The other thing that’s really exciting is the energy of the students. They’re great, they’re excited, they’re
interested. The faculty is outstanding. I feel very honored to be a part of the team here.
