Hello in this tutorial I show you how to make an eco-friendly pencil holder using recycled materials that you probably have in your house
Material
a lot of sheets of magazines, cans of different sizes, scissors, ruler, pen or marker, glue stick and hot or cold silicone
Take 1 sheet of magazine and 1 can
mark the outline with the pen
put the sheet around the can
make marks to see where it starts and where it ends because we´ll cut an imaginary rectangle that should cover the can
cut the circle
With cold silicone glue the circle at the bottom of the can
then put cold silicone inside the can and glue the rectangle
we want to cover the whole can
make cuts at the top with the scissors
put more silicone at the edge and glue down
You must have the inside of the can covered
put aside and do the same with the others
when you're done with all, glue them as you prefer
I'll glue 3 different sizes, you can glue them in a straight line or whatever you want
in this step we´ll use hot silicone
put it on the can and then glue the other
press to adhere well then put more silicone between the cans
press and put more silicone again on both cans then glue the last
you should have something like this, leave aside and take a sheet of magazine
measures the height of one of your cans, mine is 8 cm, I'll add 1 cm that will be the top of the next rectangle
trace a rectangle of 20 cm width per the height measured, in my case 9 cm
cut it
flip and roll this way making a thin figure
use a thin object like a brush to help you
accommodate and roll up
when you feel it sure, take off the brush and accommodate
and continue rolling
when you have 1 cm leftover, accommodate
and put glue here
glue and press to ensure that will not peel off
when you finish, glue several rolls around the cans
calculate the amount of rolls you need to cover the can and make them
try to use different designs and colors
remember that you flipped the rectangle, the color you have in the end is the color of the roll
so make them in different colors
when you finish, put cold silicone and glue the rolls
glue the rolls for the closed part
accommodate them ensuring that they are aligned at the end of the can
you can also use hot silicone
glue the rolls, make sure to glue them where is the closed part
Use the type of adhesive you prefer
I recommend you to use hot silicone because it is easier
but you can also use cold silicone
when you finish he first can you must have something like this
aligned rolls in the bottom and in the top almost the same size
If your cans are the same size still glueing rolls
if you have cans of different sizes repeat the above procedure but with new measures
glue the rolls in the other cans
The cans should look like this with the rolls
if you have empty spaces, cover with more rolls
take 1 and measure it with the next roll to cut it of the same size
cut rolls of this size and glue in the remaining space
now you just need to match them with your scissors
when you finish, you can use your pencil-case
we're done
