Quadriplegic wheelchair. Our project focusses on helping the patient become more independent
which we believe will increase his confidence levels too.Just by moving his head he can
move around without help from others. This project also deals with patient monitoring. This
is the heart beat sensor here. There are two sensors placed inside this finger cap.The
patient's finger must be placed between the two sensors for it to read the heartbeat. As
soon as the finger is placed in its appropriate position we see a small red ligt glowing here
and the heartbeat value is displayed in the board here. When the heartrate increases above
a preset threshold value a message is sent to the patient's caretaker or someone at the
nearest nursing home, provided that these phone numbers are stored in the GSM modem
before hand.To register a sim card it must be inserted into the modem here , and as you
switch on the device you see this red light glowing continuously at first but as the registration
completes it starts blinking to indicate that the sim registration is complete and the device
is ready to be used.Another parameter which we monitor continuousky is the temperature. The
device also informs the necessary people if the temperature crosses the preset threshold
value. This is the temperature sensor of Texas instruments. This is the dc-dc converter here. The
micro-controller being used for interfacing is MSP-430 which is built into this experimental
board of TI.We also have a display on the board along with other features including
a microphone and a power supply provision. As you can see here, there are two slots provided
for placing two batteries which provide the necessary power. The device can also be powered
using a cable from another source. This switch here, turns ON the device and this displays
the temperature and heartbeat vlaues continuously. As we move this hat, trying to mimic the mevement
of the patient's head, the wheelchair moves in the desired direction
