alarmed about this for six minutes to something that's been interesting me and
getting those sleeping now it's not something
that i was a slippery cuz i'm anxious about it but it's actually just
are really incredible t_v_ show
n and produced by netflix called house of cards it's sort of take in washington
d at washington d_c_ by storm it's a political thriller about the deputy whip
in the house representatives is uh... is a congressman from south carolina played
by kevin spacey
and its power couple
wife played by robin robin wright just at environmental organization
and sort of the extremely cynical
and deep
*** machiavellian machinations in washington
it omitted it's it's it's you can't stop watching in part that's because netflix
doesn't let you because they just start
turning on the next episode the senators for the first one
but they're released alternative so it's been one shot and it's a growing pattern
of netflix sort of creating their own con sent rather then rather than just
basically screening things from
videos or other movies or
tv shows that although
people created it really is kind of the frontier of technology we saw them do
with the television series will harm earlier this year
which starring steve its inventor and it's about a
among you're so risen witness protection
in lol burden or where
but it's at that
house of cards that was a fascinating show i'll tell you why i like and why it
why can't some washing it is because unlike some other political shows unlike
some other political are depictions of all the baltics
and film
it's it's brutally brulee cynical and i think in many ways on this
the the congressman is a democrat
but by all appearances he's not all that committed to any party or ideology
he's a power broker
he thinks that it will make for a more meaningful
education reform bill
so he goes after the seizures unions and those of the race for collective
bargaining
and those things that
we don't necessarily hear about until people are caught doing them
sleeping with a journalist or giving away congressional secrets directly to a
high-power journalist to engineer media events
really sort of
econ one messing things too many another one interesting damage there is the in
the the
internal fighting on the left and how that sometimes out of those things
obviously i work
and progressive advocacy during week that's been a special interest that that
that is
so it's very apparent to me that
when you have unity on something let's say like in the cases or stream medicare
it's very easy for the right wing to move in and say well a some democrats
supported or just tactically to draw people out they depict that very very
effectively in the show they see they they see him challenging on lisa kevin
spacey challenging his own house leadership you see union sort of picking
outside of environmental groups that's a division within the last you see sort of
just
southern democrats making coalitions with african-american democrats
against
sort of
northeastern liberals and i think i i think it's a show that has legs and it
will give a much
a much more real depiction of what goes on in washington d_c_
i've been disappointed in some other political t_v_ shows
in the past
think of that is sort of
really that literally tracks
day-to-day events that occurred
in real life but only two years later is the newsroom on h_b_o_ i thought it
cheesy to a fault
totally like that there's no character development in it it's just
totally ridiculous uh...
and uh... as as the
hi i'm very happy and i think that i think that uh... it's it's really
exciting religious traditions to see it all
i have seen through the reviews for it and uh... i've i've read reviews
actually the british novel merchants basically does is originally yet from
the b_b_c_ enemies have adapted it for the united states congress but i look at
i think you know what we see in politics every day people get bypass for
particular position who decide to exactly a revenge and people who did the
man and that seems to be the thrust of this it's fascinating and i'll be
watching simply because the a review
well that they have attended some some honeymoon watching from practice can
sakali
we were talking to other mitchell coming up next and we're gonna pause just a few
seconds of the senate decisions join us for walking him in columbus
in uh... chicago but for now you're listening to we have to radio in
washington d_c_
it's is take action news
