Our bus is heading up north to Hanoi and we left today at 1:30 pm and we're not expected
to arrive until 7:30 am, so this is going to be our longest trip by far.
I have a neighbor sleeping right next to me on the ground.
When we booked our bus ticket we asked the agent like several times "Is this bus going
to have a toilet?" "Will there be a toilet provided?" She's like "Yeah, Yeah." I wasn't
quite sold on it, so I'm like 'Okay, can you please show me a picture of what the toilet
is going to look like." So she flipped through her little brochure, her little magazine and
showed us the bus would have a toilet and sure enough there is no toilet on this bus.
This is the first rest stop of our seventeen hour journey so we picked up some peanut candy
that looks really tasty and sesame candy. That just cost over two bucks. Nice.
So what is your next snack over here? I got some pao, which is a little beef dumpling
with steamed bread.
I don't know where we are. We're somewhere. We finally got our bathroom break and I'm
also eating my dinner - ooh, la lah.
It is funny because last month when we were traveling in Cambodia we thought the buses
were stopping way too often - like every hour or every hour and a half. There would be a
dinner stop, a restroom stop but here in Vietnam it is the exact opposite. We've been traveling
like seven hours and we've had one bathroom stop. This is finally our second. So about
one every four hours it seems here. Are you going to pee your pants boy? You need a super
bladder over here.
It is morning and I ended up sleeping quite well and we should be in Hanoi very soon.
We are behind schedule and still nowhere near Hanoi. We're in the countryside and enjoying
the scenery and reading books.
