Hi. I'm Joshua Hatfield, Solutions Engineer at Rackspace and contributor to the Joomla
community. Today I am going to talk to you about why Joomla is awesome. The first thing
I want to point out is the customization. There's thousands of templates, thousands
of components, plug-ins, modules, whatever you need to do, you have the ability to do
it. If you don't have a developer, you can purchase a template and create your own custom
theme. They all have a different module component and the module and the component will be able
to work together to display the interaction for your end user.
It is very easy to deploy. Joomla can be deployed on Windows and/or Linux. If you are running
Windows, just to give you a tip, you can run the Windows platform installer, download Joomla,
and it will take care of all the technical needs you have. It will install PHP, download
and install MySQL, it will set everything up for you and in a matter of fifteen minutes,
you are up and running. Typically Joomla is to be installed on Lamp.
But if you install it on Lamp, we can support the Lamp stack here at Rackspace. You are
responsible for your coding, but if you aren't and you don't know how to do that, it's
okay because Joomla has a very easy back end administration that you can handle.
Joomla is also a mature platform. Joomla was established after 2006 with the Mambo platform
itself. It evolved from that. It's a very advanced um...CMS now, it's very powerful
as well. They use it in schools, enterprises intranets, uh...Joe's coffee shop, and more.
If you need a website, Joomla I think is probably going to be there for you.
To me, Joomla is my seven iron. What I mean by that is it came very natural. I kicked
Joomla up, I looked at it, I studied it, did a couple swings I guess you would say, and
before I knew it, it was up and running. If you have any questions about Joomla, CDN,
integration components, whatever it may be, just know that you have Rackspace here to
help you. Again, my name is Joshua Hatfield, Solutions Engineer at Rackspace and if you
have any questions feel free to reach out to us.
