Hi, Guys and Welcome to Studio Knit! Valentine’s Day is upon us. And I thought
it would be AWESOME to come together with a few of my favorite YouTube channel friends
and bring you this Playlist of Valentine’s Day DIYs!
Creating this arm knit infinity scarf is so easy, anyone can do it… ANYONE! No knitting
experience required. Just gather up just one chunky ball of yarn and your arms.
I love quick knits and saving money. This scarf costs under $5 for the price of your
chosen yarn. I chose this dazzling, yarn in the color of
Rubies by Red Heart… who else? It’s in their Boutique Sashay Metallic Collection
and I love the depth of color, and it’s upscale look.
Once you get the hang of it, your scarf can be finished in 15 minutes! The proof is in
the making of the video! Check out my real-time video making this scarf in exactly 15 minutes.
Until you get the hang of it, go ahead and give yourself a luxurious 30 minutes to you
learn. Once you’ve learned how to create your Arm
Knit Infinity Scarf, go check out TooTooAmy. She is teaching us how to make Valentine’s
Conversation Heart SOAP! So cute and yummy, you’ll just want to eat them!
Okay, let’s get started! First, take off any jewelry and items that could get snagged
or in the way, since our arms are our needles. Long sleeves, take the off or them up.
Take your ball of yarn and unspool approximately five feet of yarn. Taking the strand of yarn,
create a slipknot. Surely, you’ve done this before. Now, in the loop that you’ve created,
you just slide your hand right on in. Then, tighten it up, just a little bit. You don’t
want it to be too loose, but you also don’t want it to be really tight.
Now, holding our yarn… we’re going to freeze-frame it right here. We take the yarn
first in our index and middle finger and then we wrap the other strand of yarn around our
thumb from the right, up and over, and we hold that strand with our two remaining fingers.
We’re going to continue casting on until we have seven loops on our arm. This is the
most challenging aspect of arm knitting. So, if you’ve managed to conquer this, you are
almost there. You’re taking your hand to the left, going under that strand, coming
back around the right, going under that strand, and bringing it up and through.
Now that we’ve cast on seven, we can look on the underneath and this is one of our edges
of our infinity scarf. Once we’ve completed knitting the entire scarf, then we will join
the two edges into infinity! I’ve slowed this down so you can see the
knitting process. You hold the strand, keep holding it, while you take off the loop and
you put that strand onto the opposite arm. This is slowed down considerably, so there
are many chances to see this again. Here we go, with the arm that has all of the loops,
we take one strand of yarn, hold onto it, hold on tightly. Then take one of the loops
off, keep holding it, and it comes through and then you bring that into a new loop on
the other arm. One more time. Really slowly. Hold onto that strand of yarn, pick it up,
holding onto that strand of yarn, keep holding, and then you bring that strand off to the
other arm by putting your hand through. Now let’s knit in real-time. Grab the strand,
take that off, put it on the other arm. Just continue in this manner: Right arm, Left arm.
Right arm, Left arm. Until your work starts growing and it looks so pretty. Look at this.
You can see how the knitting is turning it into a glamorous new scarf.
Now, once you’ve reached approximately another five feet of yarn, it is time to what we call
“bind-off.” It’s really simple. So, we are going to
knit two loops, in the exact same way that you’ve done it, and with those two loops,
what we’re going to do to bind off is you’re going to take the first loop, and take it
up and off your hand, release it, and the first of seven stitches is bound off. So now
just knit one as you would, take the very first one, up around and through. And continue
on until you have your entire edge. Now, all you have to do Is just tie it off, tie it
off tightly. It doesn’t have to be pretty. There’s so much complexity and depth to
this scarf, that nobody will see and any “perceived imperfections.” And then with your remaining
strand, you just take the two edges, and you just sort of wind it through those edges to
join it. Really, really simple. And there you have it, your finished Arm Knit
Infinity Scarf. Perfect for Valentine’s Day. You can wear it yourself, or give it
as a gift. Thank you for visiting Studio Knit. I hope
you enjoyed this Arm Knit Infinity Scarf tutorial. For more great ideas, please check out my
