We're taking a break from my normal travel content
To talk about a serious topic
One year ago, I sat in this very chair
And announced to the world that I had been diagnosed with Testicular Cancer
And he said something.. that i'll never forget
For the rest of my life
I found it
This growth here
In your right ***
It's not normal
And that's when Iknew
Something was seriously wrong
If you want to watch that whole video I'm going to be leaving a card
Up above
Feel free to check that out for the entire story
But long story short
They caught the cancer early
Before it spread
And I only had to get one surgery
No further treatment
Beyond, screenings to make sure the cancer doesn't come back
In the year that followed
I probably pushed myself harder to experience new things and travel..
More than I ever had before
I tried things that scared me
Explored beautiful locations
And even lived abroad in Mexico for 4 months, wth Adriana my girlfriend
Today i'm sitting here with the 1 year CT scan results
In my hand, and I'm going to read it to you guys
Impression: stable study, no abdominopelvic metastasis
That means that the cancer hasn't returned
And I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I'm any wiser... After suffering through cancer
But I do have some thoughts.. on everything that transpired
Young men out there
You're not invincible
I thought I was
I ate healthy, I went to the gym
I never went to the doctor
And you can still get sick
Never forget that
It's funny how one day, your concerns are so trivial
And then you get a bombshell dropped into your life
And everything changes
I think before they found the tumor
My biggest concern the day before was probably..
How do I get more views on my YouTube channel
And then after they found it
It was..oh my god
Do I have cancer spreading through other parts of my body
It is crazy the changes that can happen in your life in 24 hours
When I made that video one year ago
I was not intending to become an advocate for Testicular Cancer Awareness
But in a way, that's what happened
I was blown away by the amount of guys that commented on that video
Or sent me private messages, telling me their story
Or their struggles with testicular cancer, and a lot of guys had it worse than me
So for everyone watching out there
If you've gone through something difficult
Don't be afraid to share it with the world
You'd be surprised the kind of impact, you can have on strangers
I want to talk for a moment now about Testicular cancer
It is the most common form of cancer
In men ages 15 to 34
And there is something that really bothers me about it
I did a lot of research after I was diagnosed
I found, many stories of guys who went through chemotherapy, went through a lot of surgeries
And even some guys that died
A lot of them had one common theme
They had pain.. they had symptoms
And they didn't go to the doctor
Until it was to late
Now in my case , thankfully
I went to the hospital the first day I felt pain
And I have to thank my girlfriend Adriana for that
If it wasn't for her
I don't know where I'd be right now
So men out there
Don't be afraid to go to the doctor
If something feels off with your body
Odds are..it's not a big deal
But just in case it is
You'll be happy that you went
Testicular cancer caught in its early stages
Is almost always curable
But if it spreads
Your odds of survival, go down a lot
I want to encourage all of my younger male viewers out there
To check themselves once a month
In the shower, for signs of testicular cancer
And all of the women in their lives watching this
Don't be afraid to push them to do this
I'm putting a link down in the description
A video that shows you the simple steps involved
It only takes a couple of minutes
And it's something that's really important
As for me
I'm sitting here, celebrating one year cancer free
And hopefully, a lifetime more
I hope you guys are okay with me opening about a very personal
Topic like this
If a video like this can save just one life
Than it was completely worth it
We're going back to my Japan series content after this
And it's some of my most unique content yet
If you haven't checked it out yet
Please do so
I'm putting the playlist in the description
Thank you to everybody who has supported this channel
For the last year especially
It really means a lot
When you guys leave comments
Telling me that you like the videos
Thank you so much
Stay healthy
Take care of yourselves
Until next time
