My wedding dress is too small what can I do!
Is the wedding far enough out that you can go on a diet?
I don’t think so. We’re just a few weeks away.
You could try dieting. You could also try a corset or girdle.
I thought a corset was taken off by the groom.
Their traditional role is to squish you into form for your clothing. You might get by with
a girdle, if the weight gain or dimensions aren’t far off.
I don’t think that will work.
Are you pregnant? If so, you’ll just have to get the dress altered.
No, I’m not pregnant.
Another option is taking it to a tailor. They can generally add a panel in back to add space.
That’s expensive.
So is the fallback option of buying another wedding dress.
It fit when I put it on in the store. It looked great with the torso thing they gave me.
A torsolette? Then the dress will only fit if you wear that. It’s a combination girdle,
corset and bust support.
Which explains why it was described as mandatory for strapless gowns.
Which also explains why the dress fit. They are designed to streamline your form to fit
the ideal dress.
And squish down the love handles and make my shadow look like I wish the real me did.
Go to the wedding shop and get the torsolette you wore with the dress. It’s cheaper than
trying to alter the dress, and that one purchase could be made immediately.
It’s so expensive. Can’t I order shapewear?
One, the torsolette is available in white and made to fit the dress’ contours. Secondly,
shapewear may not arrive in time and may bulk up in the wrong places when you’re wearing
a wedding dress.
They really should have told me I had to buy both.
At least it’ll look good with the wedding dress.
What if he asks what I’m doing? Admitting I need something like that is embarrassing.
Tell him you’re picking out undergarments and lingerie for the wedding day. He’ll
drive you to the store and give you the money to buy it.
