The last feature gonna take a look at in Kurzweil 3000
is the brainstorming feature. To start the feature,
we click on the brain storm button right here. Now you can see we have a new
document,
and it's asking for mean idea. Now that I have a topic
animals inserted, I have to start thinking about
the different types of animals I wanna talk about. So
I'll start off with dogs, then I'll talk about cats,
and then I'll talk about exotic animals.
So now I have the idea that I don't wanna just talk about animals
actually want to change that and talk about
pets so I'm going to move my
3 subheadings around, and I want to connect my ideas.
So to connect one idea to another
a simply select the first one, then I click on the link button,
select pets which we want to link
to dogs, and we also want to link it to cats,
and we also want to link it to exotic pets.
So now I'm starting to get a little bit a structure for my brain storming
document. If I want to arrange these icons so that they make a little more sense I
can click the arrange button right here.
and now Kurzweil has tidied them up for me.
Now I want to enter since subtitles some
things and i wanna talk about for each animal so I can select any one of
these icons I want, I'll go with
rectangle this time and for dogs I wanna talk about
different breedsm, and for exotic animals
i wanna talk about different types
of exotic animals.
Again I'm going to select all three of these,
I'm gonna change then to the rectangle, and now I want to connect my ideas once
more,
so I wanna connect by using this button right here,
and I want link
dogs two different breeds, cats two different breeds,
an exotic animals two different types of exotic animals.
And them or click the arrange button once more.
Now
obviously you can flush out these ideas with a lot more detail than I've given
you here,
want you have several ideas down on paper
you can click on the outline button here.
Now that you've clicked the outline button
you can see that all of the graphic images have disappeared and you're left
with just a text-based
outline. Of course crash will read this outline to you if you click the read button.
Now that I'm in the outline view, if I wanted to add additional text,
I can click on the area or one add additional text,
and then just add sub topic. So for this example,
I'll add wiener dogs,
labs,
and Huskies. And now if I want to go back into my brain storm,
it will show me in updated view but in a graphical representation as opposed to
text.
And if we had a arrange once more,
we can see how Kurzweil
has added *** dogs, labs, and Huskies to our brainstorming palette.
Once you have your outline fleshed out,
you can actually transferred to Microsoft Word by going up to the File
button,
export,
and it will give you a few choices on where you want to export it.
I wanna export it to Microsoft Word 2007.
Once you find it, select it by clicking the mouse
and then when you're ready you click OK.
A new window will appear asking you to choose a name for the document.
So in this case I'm gonna say 'test document',
and then I'm gonna click Save and once you've exported it to Microsoft Word,
you should be able to go into Microsoft Word to open up the file,
and then you can continue typing your document putting it into APA format.
