BRIAN SCALABRINE: People want to know all the time--
how much does coaching really matter in the NBA?
Now, it's totally different for a guy like Luke Walton, who's
taking over for Steve Kerr.
Steve Kerr is still overseeing what's going on in practice.
He's still playing out of a philosophy.
Now, is he doing a good job of in-game adjustment?
Absolutely.
Luke's doing a fabulous job of coaching this basketball team.
But he doesn't have to make up what they're doing on offense,
what they're doing on defense.
It's already been established for an entire season,
and Steve Kerr is there for him every step of the way.
So I think more than anything, it's just
a matter of, hey, Steve, going into this game what should I
look for, and how should I react to a team
that traps Steph Curry?
So I give a lot of credit to Luke Walton.
It's hard to coach these guys, and especially the way
they started after winning the championship.
There has been no letdown.
It's a lot harder than people think.
