Hi, I’m Kostya Andreev and this is How To Toothpick BMX Special for RIDERS!
Move on to this trick only after learning the basic quarter stands,
the feeble and double peg.
Find a low ledge and go into a double peg.
Try to get your entire weight onto the handlebars and lift your back peg.
Catch your balance.
Legs are relaxed, weight is supported solely by the arms.
You can control your movement by adjusting the pressure on the handlebars.
If your bike begins to shift to the side, swerve the rear end to regain balance.
Try turning the wheel sharply and pushing off the ledge with the front wheel.
This will help you get a handle on your exit.
Now let's try the same thing in the quarter.
Now that you can easily perform the toothpick from a double peg -
it’s time to learn how to get onto the front peg from the start.
The steeper the quarter, the easier it is to execute a toothpick.
Ride straight into the quarter and push off from the middle of the transition,
almost like for a bunny hop.
Turn the wheel 70-90 degrees and lean up against the front peg,
while keeping your body in the quarter.
Do not try to twist the bike or ride in an arch.
It will only lead to you spinning once in the stand.
Exiting from a spin is both harder and much more dangerous.
Getting drawn onto the table is the first sign of a bad entry.
It means you are pushing off too late.
A toothpick entry is similar to a footjam to fakie,
you need to push off just as early.
As soon as you begin to push off earlier, you’ll be drawn into the quarter.
At first you will be exiting into a disaster.
Just continue keeping your weight over the radius and exiting to the side.
This way you will land on both wheels simultaneously,
which will allow you to insert tricks into the exit in the future.
Keep storming the coping and see you next time!
