Hello and welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Movember Mustache Cakepop where I'll be showing you
how to make this really simple and really effect Movember Cakepop -- perfect for fancy
dress parties, obviously perfect for Movember, Movember get-togethers. Also great because
as you eat it, you could hold it up to your face and actually look like you're wearing
the big red nose and mustache yourself. Tools and equipment that we will be using
today: I have some amusing paper straws. They're
actually quite a thick quality paper straw. You don't need this. You could use a candy
cane. You could also use just a regular lollipop stick. But I think this gave him a really
nice barbershop type feel. I've got some melted red candy melts or red
candy wafers. I've got a couple of pre-cut Movember mustaches
and I do have a template for a bunch of different mustaches so you can go with all different
kinds of facial hair. I'll leave a link to that in the descriptions box.
I've got a little bit of sticky tape. And I've got a couple of cakepop balls. Now
the cakepop balls, we do have a recipe and tutorial on how to get them to this stage
so how you make them, how to form them, how to roll them into balls, and how to get them
ready for dipping. These ones I made just a tiny bit smaller than a regular cakepop
ball. I just didn't want the nose to be too overwhelming against the size of the mustache.
Let's get started. I'm going to turn the ball over. They've been
sitting on the fridge so they do have a slightly flat bottom. They're quite firm so you always
refrigerate your cakepop balls for about 15 minutes or so before you attempt to insert
the stick or dip them. I'm going to dip that straw into some of those
red candy melts, about a centimeter of the way in. And I'm going to insert it into the
bottom once again about half way of that cakepop ball. Now ideally, you want to let that set
for about another couple of minutes just until that chocolate seal has completely set. I'm
pretty confident my balls are not going to fall off so I'm going to continue along with
my dipping. Now too deep, I'm just going to go to straight
down into the candy melts and I'm just going to turn the ball until I'm convinced that
I've got a nice even cover. And then I'm going to pull it up. I'm just going to give it
a little tap off, little shake. You really want to and try to tap off all the excess
so that it's drying as evenly as possible because it is going to be a round red nose
so you don't really want any of these little blobs on it if you can avoid it. If you do
get them, make sure they go to the back. I'm going to pop this one aside for about 5 minutes
just until that candy melt has completely hardened and then we're going to attach our
[mous]. Alright, so that one is now completely set.
You should have something that looks like this - just a simple red ball on a lovely
red and white striped straw or stick. So I'm going to take one of my pre-cut [moust], little
bit of that sticky tape. I'm actually going to tear that sticky tape in half just because
the [moust] is quite thin. I'm going to pick the best side, so this side
facing forward. And I'm just going to attach my [moust] right up underneath the base of
the cakepop. A little bit of sticky tape on the back and across the straw, pushing down
so you'll have a little... a couple of little loose ends of sticky tape which you can just
cut off with just a regular pair of scissors. Now, these are really simple but I thought
they are really effective so I think you'll agree that it's a great and novel way to get
something out there for Movember. Something that you can take along to Movember parties
that's not going to take you hours and hours to prepare, lots of fun as well.
