I love teaching, and I can't imagine doing anything else.
I love it, because it's the opportunity to be part of a community and to see change every
single day.

I've been teaching at UW-Superior for three and a half years.
The reason that I applied to teach at UWS is primarily because I like to get to know
students, and the idea of teaching at a large campus where I have 60 students in a classroom
just just doesn't appeal.
The academic quality at UWS is very strong, because we have really quality instructors
here.
We have quality staff who are really engaged in working with students and and helping them
and supporting them develop not only into their chosen professions but also into really
active community members.
UWs is excellent, because you can meet new people, and the classes are very good.
I am a faculty in the Social Work program, and I love teaching our Social Work students,
but one of the great things about UWS is that I get to teach students from a variety of
different disciplines in a first year seminar.
The seminar is called, "Troubles and Torments at Hogwarts."
We look at how does Harry Potter develop over the years.
They learn that while they might see it one way, another student sees it a different way,
and a community member might see it in a whole new light.
I want them to have that perspective, because learning is not easy.
If you challenge yourself or if you have somebody else challenge you, you can learn so much
more about the world.
Um, I think working with Monica and taking the seminar was a great way to start off my
semester at UWS.
I would describe this class as inspiring and really fun.
Monica is awesome.
She's funny.
She'll give you an honest opinion, and if you need help, she's always there.
It's kinda nice, because she always has her door open if you need to talk.

I would like students to finish my classes saying,"That was challenging. That was hard.
And I learned a lot."
Because students are actively involved, they're thinking about their own ideas, they're sharing
those ideas, and they're learning from other people as those ideas are brought to the table.
I can conceptualize the class, bring in a topic or a theory or a concept or a skill,
and develop a class around that, but it's the richness of the discussion that helps
us all learn in that room.
And that's the thing that I love.
That's why I teach.
