Hi this is Brenda and today we are stenciling on fabric. The items that we will be using
today are a shirt, some freezer paper, a marker, our stenciling brush, some stenciling paint
which today is fabric paint, scissors and a paper towel in case we make a goof. Now
the first thing we do with our shirt is we put a piece of paste board right between the
two layers so that our paint will not go through and soak through to the other side. I’ve
used a shirt today that has a stain on it. That is a good idea in case you have a favorite
shirt that you’ve gotten a stain on and you really don’t want to throw it away but
you are not quite sure what to do with it so why not turn it into a stenciling art project.
Now we have our fabric paint here on our paper plate. We are about to begin our project.
Now for this today we are using freezer paper and freezer paper is great for stenciling
after ironing a simple leaf pattern here on our freezer paper, the backside is the raggedy
side. So I’ve drawn the pattern just freehand that I want to use. For time saving purposes,
I went ahead and cut this out. We are going to lay it flat here on our shirt and we are
going to get the iron and iron it onto the shirt. Now I am going to hold it down a few
minutes to make sure that it appears. We just keep ironing until it appears to our shirt
which is just about now. Now we are about to begin our cake project. We get out stenciling
brush and we’ve already decided we are going to use orange since this is a leaf pattern.
We get the excess paint off of our brush. Don’t want too much on there and we begin
to just dab. dab, dab and dab. I’m not holding the brush you see as an angle. I’m holding
it straight up, perpendicular to the shirt. Now I can use several colors so I am going
to come over here and get a little bit lighter color, get the excess off my brush and just
keep dabbing, dabbing and dabbing. Now I feel like I have completely covered my project
and I am ready to just peel off the freezer paper. Like this and it came out a beautiful
leaf.
