Today on this 2001 Ford Ranger we are going to install part number MF15679 from MagnaFlow.
The first thing we are going to do to get ready is go ahead and move the spare tire.
You do not have to do that but it makes things a lot easier to get to and see. The next thing
we are going to do is spray down the bolts going towards the catalytic converter. Let
it sit for awhile and we will go ahead and loosen them up. And also, you will notice,
this is not the original factory connection going to the catalytic converter too. This
is actually another aftermarket exhaust. We will leave that set for now. Now we will go
back to the rest of the exhaust and remove all of the rubber hangers. Just spray them
down with some lubricant also and pull them apart. Alright, we will just push it to one
side and pull it out. And then we will pull out the other side. You should be able to
pull it all out as one piece. 0:56 Let us start off by installing the muffler
on to the hangers. Let us do our preassembly on our extension pipe. First off, this ring
right here goes around the exhaust and clamps it to the catalytic converter. Make sure it
fits into the bevel right here. Now remember, the original factory hardware would fit in
these holes here. In our case, we are going to have to come up with something a little
bit different to attach everything together. We will go ahead and slide on our clamp as
well. Now we will go ahead and slide the extension pipe into the muffler and then attach the
other half to our catalytic converter. Alright, now we are intentionally leaving this loose
so we have some flexibility so we can route the pipe the way we want it. Make sure that
it seats good on to the catalytic converter so we have plenty of room around the frame
components. Now we will take our clamp and slide it on to the muffler. Make any adjustments.
