This video shows how to use the media loading accessory on the HP Latex 280, formerly the
Designjet L28500.
HP recommends using the media loading accessory with soft or flimsy substrates, such as banners,
textiles, and meshes.
The printer comes with two loading accessories. One for rolls up to 61 in (1.55 m) wide and
another for rolls up to 104 in (2.64 m) wide. The smaller loading accessory can also be
used for wide rolls if you prefer.
Go to the Main Menu.
Select the Substrate submenu.
Select the Substrate load option.
Now, select "Load with accessory."
Lift the blue substrate-adjustment lever as far up as it will go.
The front panel will display a short animation illustrating how to attach the media loading
accessory.
Place the media loading accessory on the floor in front of the printer.
Pull some of the substrate from the roll.
Open the white flaps and place the leading edge of the substrate on the media loading
accessory. Close the flaps over the media to secure it to the loading accessory.
Lift the media loading accessory and load it into the printer until it is taken up automatically.
The loading accessory passes through the printer's substrate path with the substrate.
Once the substrate has completed loading, remove the media loading accessory and store
it away until it is needed again.
Lower the blue substrate-adjustment lever as far down as it will go.
The printer will check the substrate in various ways and might ask you to correct problems
with skew or tension.
When prompted, select the media type from the front panel menu.
After printing on the textile, remember to clean the platen if needed. Check the User's
Guide for details.
Press OK to continue
Next, select the roll length from the menu.
The printer will now complete loading the substrate, and then remind you to unload the
media loading accessory if you have not done so.
You will then be asked if you want to use the edge holders.
The printer will make its final checks on the substrate load.
Press OK to continue.
Next, the printer will give you the option to use the take-up reel. Make the selection
that matches your requirements.
Press OK to continue.
Press OK, again.
Press the back button three times to return to the start menu. The printer is now loaded
and ready to print.
