Hello again everyone. Glad that you are
following my Jesus Journeys series.
Episode eleven is the Road to Emmaus.
It is the last episode of this series.
This is where the resurrected Jesus meets
two men on the road and they are surprised
to find out that he does not know anything
that has been going on in Jerusalem.
Eventually, they do discover
that it is Jesus.
Amazingly, this is the real Jesus, having
survived the Crucifixion.
Fortunately his legs were not broken
when he was taken off the cross.
And he is making this long journey
from Qumran to Jerusalem.
Now Emmaus is the midpoint
between Qumran and Jerusalem and
one makes it basically in four stages.
You go from Ein Feshkha to Mird,
and then from Mird to the place where
Mar Saba is located which is Emmaus,
and then from there to Bethany,
and then from Bethany to Jerusalem.
The purpose of this series is to
demonstrate the logic of Jesus living
at the Essene monastery at Qumran
by the Dead Sea instead of
at Nazareth near the Sea of Galilee.
The proof is shown by the length
of each of the journeys, that the sum total
of all the journey lengths for the
traditional Jerusalem-centered locations
being almost 10 times greater than the more
logical Qumran-centered locations.
Jesus sets out from Ein Feshkha to Mird.
Jesus sets out from Mird to Emmaus
which is where Mar Saba is located.
On the way he meets James who is Cleopas
and Thaddeus who is the unnamed person
and they talk for a long time,
not recognizing Jesus.
At Emmaus they stay at the monastery there
and finally recognize Jesus.
On the next day they set out
from Emmaus to Bethany.
Now leaving from Bethany to Jerusalem.
The total journey
from Ein Feshkha to Jerusalem
was 31.15 kilometers
and the journey took 17.3 hours.
