This short video is going to show you how to change
the default font in Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010.
You want to make sure the Home tab is selected on the ribbon
and then you're going to click in the font section,
the little arrow in the lower right hand corner. This will bring
up the font dialog box. There are
a lot of fonts in here but not all of them are appropriate for business documents.
Ariel is an example an
appropriate font. It is called a Sans Serif
font. That means it is a very plain
font. It doesn't have serifs on it
like Times New Roman. As you can see Times New Roman has
extra little marks on the ends of the letters.
I myself prefer the sans serif fonts
and two good example of that are Ariel
or Calibri, which is the default font.
So select the fun that you want
and then make sure in the font style
Regular is selected and in the font size
12 is selected. This is a standard point size for
business documents. Your font color should be set to automatic.
There should be no underline -- None.
And the underlying color should be automatic.
Make certain there's nothing selected in the Effects.
All of these can be put on later if you wish but you don't want to set your
default font to that.
Once you've
make the selections, you're going to click Set Default
and then you get this dialog box that asks you whether you want to change the
default
for the this document only or for all documents based on the normal template.
You are going click all documents based
on the Normal template and then click okay.
Having done this, every time you start
a new document in Microsoft Word you will
automatically have those default fonts that you set.
These are appropriate for business documents
