Hi there! I'm Amy Wallace on behalf of Expert Village and today we are going to be discussing
how to be a good movie critic or more importantly, how to start out as a movie critic with a
budget. In our next clip, we are going to discuss the art of the positive. Now this
is probably going to be an easier area in order for you to get in to when writing your
critique. It is important to remember though as I've mentioned before that you are discussing
one specific film. You are not discussing any one actor's or any one director's body
of work so try and steer clear of making your crushes noticeable. If somebody does a good
job within a film, say so but don't herald back too much on previous films that you thought
they did well on or that they didn't do well on. You can always mention once or twice but
remember that you are focusing on the one film that you have just seen. Be sure that
even when you are writing a positive review, you positive reflect and look at what you
have written. It is always yet again, if you do have a scale to go back and look at it
and try to think in your head what makes a perfect film. Don't get overly excited for
a film that may actually not be perfect. If you have too much enthusiasm, people later
on may question you. This will happen anyways and we will talk about that a little more
later but it is just important to ensure that you are within your own head and you are saying
exactly what it is that you want to say and that you aren't again, too excited about a
certain crush you might have.
