Financial Independence through Online Business
Hi. So today we're going to take a look
at how to make a nice looking outro slate for YouTube videos
using Gimp and Camtasia Studio.
So first we're going to need a static picture to make the template.
So the one I used in my videos, I'll show you in just a second...
And we're going to open that in Gimp.
Okay, so this is obviously the wrong way,
but what we're going to do first is we're going to create a new one.
I record all my videos in 1280x720,
but this is going to depend on the dimensions
of the videos you make with your webcam or your screencasts.
I think the screencast 1280x720 is pretty standard.
Okay, so that's going to be our Outro slate.
Now we're going to change this one.
This will depend on the image you choose,
but I need to change this one so that it fits in that new image.
Okay, so all I did was paste that in there,
and even though it's too big, you won't be able to see the edges,
so I can move that around if I want,
and then paste it down.
And then what I did is I create a white space.
Now, I don't know what the exact dimensions are
so what I'm going to do is create a new file that is 1280x720,
then I'm going to change the size.
I'm going to make that 600,
and that will automatically change the height.
Then I will copy that.
Here we're going to paste that in there,
so that looks about right,
then I'm going to open up this other image again,
scale it down further.
That's about right.
And I'm going to line these up.
Okay, so then once you've got those blank spaces there,
I actually found those buttons on the internet,
I downloaded some images.
So whatever you choose for your buttons,
now I'm just going to copy and paste whatever image in there.
Okay, so then that's our template right there.
So with the new version of Gimp you have to export instead of save.
Okay, so that's our template, and we don't need Gimp anymore.
Now we're going to open Camtasia 8,
we're going to import media.
So we're going to need the video that we created.
Now I actually record my webcam straight through Camtasia now.
So you can just hook up your webcam right there,
you can see me.
Okay, we're going to import media, we're going to import some video
and we are going to find our template.
Okay, so once we have our video in here,
which is 1280x720 because that's our template sizes
and that's what we recorded in,
okay, so this is the point where the video ends.
So what we want to do is slightly before
we're going to cut that. We don't want to cut it out,
we just want to make it so you can move that.
It's called split, I guess. We're going to split that.
Okay, then we're going to move our template down
and drag it all the way across to the end.
And we're going to move this somewhere just after the split,
wherever you want. And we are going to highlight it.
Go to more, visual properties, and add animation.
That's going to give us that little dot down there.
So without moving that down there,
we are going to move this.
And you can see down there at the bottom of the screen,
that dot is growing. That means we're changing the animation.
We're going to move this to fit inside that white square.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
Approximately is okay.
And what that's going to do,
it's now going to play that animation when it comes there.
Okay, so that's that part. Now to get the other videos on there
is a bit of a pain,
but it's not that bad.
So we're going to move this up,
and I'll put three tracks in between,
and we're going to go to import media
and find three videos that we want to put in there.
Just drag those in there. Then what you'll need to do
is highlight all three, make sure they're on the right-
that the videos only start where the split occurs.
You can see that it's lined up here, the test template.
So I let those three split,
now we're going to erase this first part.
And then go to the back where the template ends.
You can see the template ends right there.
Highlight all three, split,
delete that, then we need to silence all three of these.
And you'll notice that you still only see the top video.
That's because it's on the top track,
so you'll need to move this past the animation.
Okay, what you're seeing right now is this top video
called Don't Rank in Google,
but if you highlight all three at the same time
and you change the size,
it will change the size of all three at the same time.
So you can change the size so it fits in your predetermined squares,
click away, and drag each video one by one.
And there you go.
And then I'll also show you to do the outro.
I had my outro made on Fiverr, I have that in my library.
Let's put that on the end.
And we go to transitions, fade through black,
and then what I do- I need to zoom in
and then I put all of these on fade,
and then you need to match up the fade length.
You can even make the fade through black longer.
I make these fades shorter, and then what that does,
it makes all of them fade at the same time,
and they fade into the outro.
And the last thing that I do to my videos is I add music.
So I like to lock all those tracks
just so I don't mess up all of my work.
Also on library I have my audio,
which is royalty free music, you can also get that on Fiverr.
And then I line that as I need, and then what I do at the end
is I line up this timer thing. Right at the end,
clip the audio, erase that, you make another split here,
somewhere near the end, go to audio and fade out,
and then that's going to fade out the audio,
and it will fade into the audio of the outro.
So that's it. If you have any questions
you can either email me or contact me at WA,
or ask me on Google+.
Okay, so once you export your video,
I always export as WMV, but I'm on Windows.
I found that YouTube doesn't really like MP4 videos.
I export as WMV and then upload.
So once your file is uploaded, go to video manager,
click on edit, go to annotations, skip to the end,
about where your outro slate is about to start
and then pause it right where you can see the outro slate appear,
and then you're going to add an annotation.
And so the annotations that I add, I always do highlight,
you can also do- I always do spotlight.
You can also do notes.
And then what I do is I have my buttons,
depending on what buttons you want to click,
but then for the videos down here what I need to do
is I need to open my video manager, and then I need to find the videos.
I can look back in the project and I can look at the videos
that I added to those three video spots.
Then I can open those videos individually,
I copy the link from here, I go back to the annotation,
put in video, put the link in here,
and then I also copy the title of the video
and then I put the title of the video in the text here.
That way when someone hovers over it
they can see what video they're going to click on.
You can do that for all three spots.
And then for my buttons, I put no text in the buttons
so then it looks like they're actually pushing a button.
And then I time it
to see when the video is getting ready to fade out.
About when it fades out I look at the time down here
and then I enter the time over here,
and approximately is okay,
and then that's how you make your outro.
So thanks for watching a video.
