You know, after a pair of space sims, a dungeon keeper remake and the disturbing awesomeness
that is kingdom death monsters it's nice to take a look at something much more
fluffy
today on Kickjudgment
we have monsters ate my birthday cake
the island of gogopo is the setting for this story of loss friendship and of course
cake
the art style immediately jumps out
it has this ulgy cute fluffy yoda feel that's
rather charming
and it's all done in a top-down view that's very reminiscent of a link to the past
It's described as an environmental puzzeler so unlike Zelda there's no sword fighting
combat
the main can play on display is a swapping between characters that have
unique abilities to overcome obstacles
here we see this yeti looking guy freeze a baddie then control is switched it nico who
pushes the now frozen monster onto a pressure plate that lowers some spikes
there's a very quick
at the hippobarf bros. general store we see two categories that item
listed as upgrades and uh... items
we find out who these items are used to make friends with new monsters
current buddies and also that hipponarf needs to work on his higene
Seeing this store my mind turned to micro transactions
but after a quick email to Sleep Ninja
i was assured that the game was primary designed to be played with out in app
purchases but maybe with some optional extras
might suggest skins for the monsters and nico
and everybody seems to love hats
the first place levels it matter five dollars and eight dollars that gets you
the IOS version and pc version respectively
there's an early backer ten dollar pay pledge that gets you both if for some reason you
need two copies
Edging up after that, there's the normal digital things, art
book soundtrack your name the credits if that's important to you
at 50 there's a t-shirt, at 75 you can pick a custom figure
which are okay but a little up there unless you're a real collector
anything above that is for robber barons only
my only question is where's the plushie
this little suezo claude is just begging to be hugged.
i believe this is Sleep Ninja's first game as a company but its members have
already worked in the industry. creatove director justin baldwin has worked on some flash
flash games that ended on on Nickolion's website these games are functional but
nothing special, Though i have to admit i didn't expect to see a turn based strategy
game on nickelodeon
maybe X Com was just riding Tuff Puffy's wave
this is a solid pledge for me, they've shown enough of the gameto really understand
where it's heading, the gameplay demonstration is clear and the art is refreshingly colorful
i'm sticking with an eight dollar pledge at the moment for pc version unless of
course open huggable comes along
as always there's a link to the kickstarter campaign in the description so check it out and
make your own judgment
be sure to come back next week when will take a look at something much less
fluffy
