Ahoy Eli, back from your Caribbean vacation?
Yes, just got home. How are you?
Not that great, because my gas furnace will not turn on without flicking it on and off
and it keeps getting worse to the point that it will not even turn on at all. Even if it
does, then it will turn itself off.
This sounds like a case of the Mondays, haha.
It might be a case of a broken jaw bone if don't get serious with me on this, hehe.
You're always the funny guy I love talking to. So let me share my view on this.
Please do.
I think that you're actually dealing with a dirty flame sensor and FYI, it looks like
a short probe that has the diameter of a drinking straw.
OK, so what do I do next?
You should turn off the power to the unit and then remove the upper front panel. Cleaning
the probe is quite simple and you'll just need to use a dry Scotchbrite pad, fine sandpaper
or steel wool.
Oh, great!
Don't get too excited yet, because you may also deal with an electronic relay and electronic
starter problem. The good news is that it's easy to get and replace them and they're not
expensive.
Really? Because I thought they would be the ones to cause the trouble, but I wasn’t
sure.
Well, you might want to take a good look at them and see if they're in good working order.
If not, then you'll have to replace them as soon as possible because temperatures will
be quite low this week.
I will certainly do that friend, thanks a lot for your help.
See you tomorrow, you promised to watch the game with me, so don't forget about this time.
I won't!
