Hi everyone, Grant Kay here for the Smoke Learning Channel.
In this short video, we will look at the various options
for controlling the wireframe icons when working in the Action Compositor.
The wireframe icons are useful guides to give you feedback
concerning object locations in the 3D compositing environment.
Compositing objects such as surfaces and 3d models all have their own wireframe icons.
And other tools such as lights, cameras and 3d path also have their own wireframe icons.
However the more complex your composites become,
the more difficult it is to work with wireframe icons as they tend to get in the way.
Most applications using the idea of wireframes have the same problem.
So you have a couple options to use to make this more manageable.
The first option is to simply press CONTROL+I and this will toggle the wireframe icons on and off.
So from a visual standpoint, hiding the wireframe icons allows you to composite more clearly.
However to see what is selected, you have to keep turning the wireframe icons on again.
And if you have lots of wireframe icons, the composite becomes obscured.
So the second option you have is to go into the Action node preferences.
Here you will find the controls to manage the wireframe icons.
One option is to adjust the transparency setting to make them less intrusive.
However, you still have all of the wireframe icons on the screen.
This is the default option in the preferences menu.
You can turn them off if you select this option.
Using the CONTROL+I keyboard shortcut toggles between these two modes.
However the third option is Selected.
Using this mode, only the object that is selected in the composite will have its wireframe icon displayed.
All the other wireframe icons will be invisible.
Pressing the CONTROL+I keyboard shortcut will now toggle between selected and off.
This allows you to see the overall result of your composite
but still use the flexibility of the wireframe icons with your selected object.
Comments, feedback and suggestions are always welcome and appreciated.
