this is a wonderful science toy. vertical levitation. we have seen another version of
the same toy where the pencil levitates when it is in horizontal direction. this one, the
pencil is in vertical position. but the basic principles are the same, the same principles
of magnetism. for this you need is a foam rubber tube, a bottle propeller, some glue,
fevibond glue, refill piece, 3 ring magnets, press button, ball pen, an old pen refill
and a bicycle spoke. first take this spoke and at one end bend it into a small circle.
this circle should be small enough so that you can fix a press button on it. then bend
the spoke at right angle and then fold the triangle for the base. this is how it should
look like after you have bent it. this is the base. it is for fitting of the button.
take this button and fit it on the small circle and apply some glue. then make an impression
of the triangular frame on the rubber foam and put some glue. fit the spoke and make
it stick. press fit the straw rubber right underneath the button on the base. now take
the needle of an old refill and put it on the other end of the pen. now this pen will
have nibs on both the sides. now make a 12 petal propeller from an old bottle. make sure
to fold all the wings in the same direction. this will make sure that the fan will rotate.
make a small hole in the lid and press fit the pen inside the propeller. since the pen
has writing tips on both the sides it does not matter which side you put it. now take
these 3 ring magnets and place them so that they are repelling each other. these two ring
magnets are of opposite polarity so are attracting and the other one is repelling. put one of
the ring magnets at the back end of the pen very close to the writing tip. and the other
two on the foam. you have to make sure that the height of the stand is very close to the
height of the pen. you have to take care that these two magnets are repelling. see how they
are repelling here. once you have done this you can place it under a fan and see the vertical
propeller. a care that needs to be taken is that you have to adjust the height of this
stand so that it is very close to the height of the pen so that these two magnets are repelling
and both the ends are in the air. you can see that this end of the vertical levitation
is in the air. that is how the vertical levitation is happening. this is also in the air and
here also the tip of the pen is in the air. the button is only for the support of this
