Thanks, Tara.
[Tara Reed]: I'm here at SURTEX 2011 with artist Jill Seale.
And she has agreed to be in front of my camera,
and to tell us her Art Licensing Story.
Well, it was sort of by accident.
I had a graphic design business,
I was in Washington, D.C.
and I pared back to hand-painting linens
for some of my clients, I just took the top ones,
and then I spent my time hand-painting linens for fun,
and those sold like crazy,
and I got publicity in a magazine feature that
that then brought business in from all the U.S.
And I couldn't keep up with the demand,
and we moved out of Washington, D.C.
for my husband's job which seemed like a natural time
to go see if manufacturers might light my art on other products.
So, I came to a stationery show and found SURTEX.
I decided that was religion! [laughs]
I could do that the next year.
[Tara Reed]: When was that?
That was 2001 when I did my first SURTEX.
And the nuns were the biggest thing that took off.
And - I have not looked back.
That's just "all she wrote."
Awesome! All right, that is the face to go with the "Ask Jill Seale" audios. Go get them.
With the rain-drenched hair.
Yes.
Thank you so much.
Thanks, Tara.
