We're in the Robert Comstock Design Studio
in Manhattan on 40th Street and Seventh Avenue.
I've actually worked in NYC for many years in my career.
In fashion, you have to be in New York.
Years ago I went on a trip to put my designs together,
and I had all these fashion magazines with me.
I was sitting here, thinking, "Either I am or I'm not."
I took the magazines, chucked them, and began to design.
From then on I've never looked at another magazine
to get inspiration to design.
That special stitching was started on the bottom.
It was then that suddenly I loved what I did.
How I got here baffles myself sometimes.
I've got two boys, 11 years old and 14 years old.
Ten years ago we nearly fell apart in terms of divorce.
It was the worst experience of my life.
I didn't know if I'd get custody of my boys.
I used to think I'd be this designer
who'd have this profound effect in the world.
I understand now—I have for a long time—
my purpose is to make sure two souls get through this life,
that they have integrity and that they're gentlemen
and that they're true throughout their lives.
What I love best about being a father is being
around kids so inquisitive and knowing nothing's impossible,
and that you get to enjoy things again with them.
Being a coach, I love.
I always wanted more kids.
I look at the team and wish they were all mine.
Nice job, Kyle.
I can't get enough of it.
I'm a single dad.
I'm a designer.
I'm a baseball coach.
Man, I'm going to dig being a grandfather.
My name is Robert Comstock, and I'm a Mormon.
