Bill Nye and creationist Ken Ham have this debate about creationism and
obviously the facts were on
Bill Nye side so can hit Ken Ham I just basically seem like
a crazy person in my eyes for anyone who believes in logic
and reasoning he just anything that he put out there
it was obviously part of his political agenda now before we show the video I
let me just give you a quick summary but I thought about the entire debate
I really got the sense that bill now I was there to debate based on facts and I
got the sense that ham was there
to talk about his political agenda in his opening statement
in in almost every other explanation that he had he kept mentioning
political issues like gay marriage he talked about abortion
bill I didn't mention any about he want to talk up also when you want to talk
about things like the Doppler shift
arm so I thought that was really interesting and I realize that the fear
of people
like am is that if we start accepting evolution and we start to reject
the literal interpretation of the Bible while the world her position on the
Bible be relevant and morality
that is dictated by their religious doctrine will
either cease to exist /url become irrelevant in the eyes of people
I'm so i think thats what is biggest fear is now
he said that get ham says that he agrees with
Bill Nye on a number of things right but one thing that they disagree about
is it the origin love love life and where we all came from
and ham says what what is it I mean I believe in the Bible
and you think that the bottle is made up right that there's no evidence backing
the Bible up
but then you believe in the Big *** Theory and there's really no evidence to
back that up either
and then Bill Nye came at him with an excellent response
take a look how does creationism account for the celestial bodies
planets stars moons moving further and further apart
and what function does that serve in the Grand Designs well
when it comes to looking at the university course we believe that in the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth
and I believe now creche missus gonna say yeah you can observe
at the University spending why God is doing in fact in the Bible even says he
stretches
out the heavens and seems to indicate that there is
and expansion up the universe the Bible says set to
God made the heavens for for his Korean that's why he made
the stars we see at the and its to
is to tell us how great he is and have big ears and alright so
let's go to the next video where Bill Nye response to the
argument that the Big *** Theory has absolute no evidence backing it up
edwin hubble was sitting at Mount Wilson which is
up from Pasadena Calif and Edwin Hubble sat there and hit
this very big telescope night after night studying the heavens
and he found that the stars are moving apart
stars are moving apart and
he wasn't sure why but it was our it was clear
that the stars are moving farther and farther apart
all the time to another astronomer Fred Hoyle just remarks
what was like there was a big *** there was an explosion
this is to say since everything's moving apart is very reasonable that one time
they were all together
and there's a place from whence are rather whence these things
expand and it was a remarkable insight they went out
are listening and there was this he s
the state's all the time that wouldn't go away
they turned it this way the hiss was still there they heard that way this is
still there
astronomers running the numbers doing math
predicted that in the cosmos would be left over this
echo $this- this energy from the Big *** that would be detectable
and they detected we built the cosmic
Observatory for background missions the Colby
spacecraft and it matched exactly exactly the astronomers predictions
you gotta respect that and I do respect that but unfortunately people I can do
not respect it and as you saw from that first video that we showed you
his explanation for galaxies receding from the Earthwise
what the Bible says about what happened so obvious that the Bible is right at
the Bell then senator
I mean at the house of the LORD God I needed more room or something
why he didn't know ahead of time needed more room I don't know he's a mysterious
being i suppose
can't look pretty depressed you're watching the background a backflip
built by talking he was like god is great
you so so one final thing that I want to say about this
out toward the end of the debate of course there was a question and answer
segment which I absolutely love because I felt like a few people were trying to
hold
ham accountable for his stupidity and I want to the questions had to do with you
know changing your mind about what your beliefs are
take a look what if anything
would ever change your mind well the answer that question is
I'm a Christian and
as a Christian I can't prove it to you
that God has
definitely show me very clearly
us through His Word and
shown himself in a person Jesus Christ
the Bible is the Word of God I admit that that's where I start from
as far as the Word of God is concerned no
and and no one's ever gonna convince me that that the Word of God a
is not true time mister not
her we were just need one piece of evidence we would need the fossil that's
why I am
from one where to another we would need evidence that the universe is not
expanding
we would need evidence that the stars appear to be far away but they're not
we would need a evidence that rock layers can somehow forman
just four thousand years instead of the extraordinary Matt Wiebe need evidence
that somehow you can reset
atomic clocks and keep neutrons from becoming protons
you bring on any of those things and you would to interview a change me
immediately me I think accountability not the best people that we had a pretty
me absolutely I he was so respectful throughout that entire debate and I feel
like I would have lost my patience and I would have been
I mean I would've lost my credibility if I reacted the way that I wanted to react
but like just pay attention to those two responses you know one person saying
I will not change my mind because I believe in the word of God regardless of
what kind of evidence is presented to me
and then you have someone talking about rock formations and and
evidence and him you know being willing
to change his mind based on evidence that's presented to him
yes so I respond to one thing that can am said so he said
you know I can't explain it to you I'm a Christian you're not an expert here
and so I think that from his point of view it's sometimes difficult to
understand how
say I as an atheist look at his argument how to line up
understand what he understands and and alternatively he doesn't understand
how I don't believe it so I have a solution for both those if you'd like to
understand
how can feel how I feel if your Christian a way to go pick up
a book on Islam on Buddhism or any other religion
and read and read about the history of what they believe to be true and at the
end a bit I want you to say
are you convinced did their historical facts they talk about convince you did
there
divine proclamations convince you I am feeling they're not going to be
convincing
and yet there in many ways exactly the same as what you believe should be so
convincing about the Bible
as a quick way to understand how it is feel and it's fascinating to me that
even after that
even after that portion at the question answer section
people still believe in what hamas preaching there
that he just straight out said I am willing to reject
all evidence because I believe in the Word of God
that's it it's amazing to me I wish they just get to that question occurred in a
very short debate
