Use Your Words.
Now that we've covered all of that profile stuff,
let's look at the imformation you'll need to
provide every time you upload a video.
The first thing on the list: Closed Captioning. This is a huge subject and probably the most
important thing you'll see all year. Closed
Captioning is HUGE. Do NOT underestimate this.
Remember when I said that video is person to
person communication? one of the ways that
YouTube can actually understand the content of
your video is through the inclusion of captions.
Remember search engines understand words, and
they want to and they are trying to rank your
content. So not only are closed captions a great
way for disabled users to view your content, but
it will also provide you great search rankings.
There's something more here you need to know
about. If you DON'T include closed captioning,
YouTube autotranscribes for you and it is an
awful AWFUL translation. And the thing is nobody
is taking the time to do this. I was watching a
YouTube video about YouTube SEO. This one guy was
talking about key ranking factors and he didn't
provide closed captioning. So when I clicked the
closed caption button, YouTube had tried to
auto-detect what he was saying. So the guy said,
and I quote "One of the first things you need to
know about video..." and it mistranslated "One
of the first things..." to "Marijuana first
wives..." If you don't include closed captioning,
and it's not done correctly, YouTube WILL tie a
whole bunch of unrelated keywords to your video.
And nobody is doing this, so if you DO include
the closed captioning, you've got a better chance
of crushing your competition.
Another thing to keep in mind are your video
tags. Now tag aren't as strong as they used to
be. They're kind of like the meta-data and the
"meta-tags" inside websites and what they mean to
SEO. Basically the meta-tags were the first thing
that search engines used to rank webpages. They
didn't analyze each individual page and look at
the content and index it and rank it based on
that. They only looked at the meta-data. So you'd
be able to include a bunch of meta-keywords and
rank just based on that if you were the only one
doing it. That's kind of like what tags are for
video. tags used to be the only way that YouTube
could understand what video was about. But now
technology has gotten more sophisticated and
YouTube still uses it, but they are just not as
strong. They still take it into consideration,
while at the same time they're cautious about
people trying to abuse the system. So you'll
learn the correct way to implement tags in the
practical application portion of the training.
Description. Another clear way YouTube has of determining
what
the video is about is the description. there are
a lot of strategies to write your description.
I'm really REALLY excited to tell you about
everything I know about my description tactics.
The Title is majorly important. Follow the
headline rules and copy-writing rules that people
shell out for writing articles. You want to
capture attention while remaining relevant and
work in your keyword if you can.
In the next video, I'll be sharing with you the
very last thing you need to be aware of. After
that, we're moving onto the practical application
and what you actually need to do to rank your
video #1.
