MICHAEL LEWIS: Michael Lewis here with the Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of Expert
Village. We are going to go over today a few break falls and throws that we use in jiujitsu.
Another part of safety that we are going to stress is also staying calm. When you are
being thrown or you are throwing somebody, try to remain very relaxed. The more rigid
you are, the harder it is to execute the throw, which means the person has to put more force
behind it and you possibly getting injured. So as you are being thrown, you want to remain
nice and relaxed, go with the flow. Actually, it makes it a little bit easier and easier
on your body when you are being thrown and you are relaxed because if you are stiff,
you might fall wrong and accidentally land on your elbow or something else. So for instance,
if I'm about to throw here, I'd come in. If he is rigid, very rigid, he tightens up and
I try to step in and try to throw him, I am going to have to use a lot of force to try
and get him down to the ground. So when I do throw him, I'm using a lot of tremendous
amount of force, which is going to end up hurting him. Now, of course, in the flip side
of that, if he is nice and loose and he is very, just relaxed with everything, he is
able to go with the flow when I throw him down. So again, remember, stay calm, stay
relaxed, build yourself up from being able to take a few break falls, take a few slow
throws and then eventually, get to the point where you have to take a very quick throw.
But all the time, all the time, throughout the whole entire time, remain relaxed.
