Hello everybody and welcome back to Fairgrounds TV. I'm your host Peter Moeller of Fairgrounds
Wine and Spirits in Danbury, Connecticut and today we have the brand new 2011 Sam Adams
Infinium. This beer is a champagne-style beer and it is about 10% alcohol and I'll tell
you why it's very interesting. It is co-brewed with Weinstephan and it is brewed within the
confines of the, let me see if I can get this right, the Reinheitsgebot which is, its like
beer law. It says beer can only be made from water, malt, hops and yeast so that's all
this is made of and that's what makes it pretty interesting. And it being a champagne-style
beer it'll be interesting. Last year's Infinium, it was the first year they did it and it wasn't
very impressive to me. Let's check it out. It's fairly light. Beautiful carbonation,
very tiny champagne bubbles, hence the champagne style beer. It's a cloudy, light oragnish
little yellow. Nice tiny, tight bubbles. It's gonna be nice lacing, at least it should be.
Sustaining great in my glass. It's very important to always keep your glass free of soap so
you can get a nice head and this glass never touches a dishwasher so this is why we have
the beautiful pour. Let's check it out. It's kind of sweet and a little bit fruity. I'm
almost getting a slight berry, which is odd. It's sweet, sweet malts, melted sugar maybe.
Definitely sweet malts almost like a slight, slight sherry sweetness to it. It's got some
ncie fruits, a little bit nutty, tofee. Maybe that's where that sweetness is coming from?
The mouthfeel is very interesting. It's not too thick, a lot of carbonation on the tongue,
hence it being champagne bubbles. The head retention is fantastic, you can see it for
yourself. It's standing up and it's got a lot of bubbles in the glass. This a very interesting
beer, it's definitely worth a check out. If you think this is going to taste like regular
beer, you're wrong. It's not hoppy, it might have a little bit of floral notes. There's
more sweetness to this than anything. It's definitely interesting, maybe for the holidays,
check it out, share it with a couple people. As usual I say it everytime, I'll probably
finish this sucker. But definitely check out the Reinheitsgebot, see what the confines
of that are. We've got plenty of this left at the store, it's 19.99 a bottle and we've
got a bunch of cases in and it's going to last as long as it can. Come check us out
as usual. Facebook, twitter, you know where we are and, uh, see ya later.
