The effects of domestic violence vary by child every child has a unique
experience
their unique household, unique levels of violence, how long it's gone on
and protective and risk factors in their lives
if they have a protective adult like a battered mother who can be very
protective to her children
and aunt or uncle, a friend's parent,
the close friend who's protective
so it'll vary greatly
somewhere up to fifty percent of the children exposed to domestic violence
come out of that experience being not much different than children never
exposed to domestic violence, so many children cope
with the violence that they've experienced and either find a way to
cognitively cope with it too
mentally be able to tell themselves something about the situation
and survive through it
uh... they have protective adults in their lives or protective friends
and they have a variety of strengths going for them
uh... that help them through that, help them cope with that situation
