Hi there! Thanks for viewing. I've done playthroughs of Chun Li, Guile, Ken, and Ryu. Now it's Sagat's turn to show his moves.
Sagat's move-set is almost the same as Ryu and Ken's move-set. His tall height enables him to fire either high or low shots.
High Tiger shots are great against foes with short jumps but can be ducked under. Low Tiger shots force the opponent to block or jump, but some special moves can sail right over them.
Although Sagat is the tallest in the game, his jumping height and distance is surprising low, even in future games.
So we're starting with Guile. Not often that happens. Never jump after Guile unless you're forcing him to block a Tiger Shot.
Let him come to you and time your jump so you can kick him as he approaches you until 1/4 of his health is drained.
He'll then jump after you at a precise distance. Kick or Tiger Uppercut him for the next 1/4 of his health.
At less than 1/2 his health, he'll either jump and kick at from that same distance or he'll walk after you and throw you if he can. Or he'll Flash Kick you if you jump too late.
Sagat's footsweep has a slight delay in it, so you'll need more precise timing to combo with it.
If you can get the distance right, you can trick Guile into using a Flash Kick while doing a Tiger Uppercut, upon which you can throw him when he lands.
Darn it, he didn't fall for it that time.
Oh well. Whooped his *** anyway.
Ken isn't too difficult, but you'll need to watch for his jumping, as he'll constantly be jumping. Sometimes towards you, sometimes back and forth to draw you in.
However, he jumps so often a Tiger Shot will easily knock him down.
That combo I used was with a medium kick because Ken isn't tall. If he was Zangief, Balrog or Sagat I would have use a hard kick instead.
Wise-***.
Man, I am really messing up my timing this round.
Including with my jumps...
You're mine now.
For some reason, if you finish off an opponent with a special move, you get triple the points for it. Not that the points matter or anything.
Chun Li likes to throw several fireballs and jump a lot, but most of the time you'll be in position to counter when she does jump.
Whenever she jumps next to the wall, she'll do a wall jump. If you're in position, counter her with a kick, Tiger Shot, or Tiger Uppercut.
I tried to do a Tiger Knee there, but it's hard to pull off. It's a move so mysterious that even the computer doesn't know how to use it.
To do it, you do a 135 degree motion starting with down and finishing with Up-Toward followed by any kick button.
Sheesh that's a lot of wall jumping.
The Tiger Knee was so difficult to use they changed the motion for it in later games, so it's the same as a Tiger Uppercut only you press a kick button.
Car smashing time! Sagat is probably the 4th worst person for this bonus stage because his standing hard kick can only hit the car once as soon as the top of the car is destroyed.
Balrog, Vega, and M. Bison are the worst as they don't have double-hit attacks like everyone else.
Zangief isn't terribly difficult, but if you are too slow, he'll spin-piledrive your ***. He'll almost always be walking towards you. Time your jumps and kick him just before landing followed by a footsweep.
Damn it, mistimed the kick after landing. Surprised it wasn't a Spinning Piledriver.
Use High Tiger Shots if you use them, as he usually won't duck low and often will try to jump over them, which is hard to do when his jumps are so low.
You suck.
Damn it, tried to do a Tiger Knee. I want to show it at least once.
Yeesh, just about effed it up there.
Dhalsim is pretty easy. Time your Tiger Shots as he's jumping and jump after him after knocking him down.
Then look for openings to throw or combo him like I did there.
Darn, no perfect.
Stupid short jumps...
Dhalsim often starts the 2nd round by jumping back and sometimes throwing a hard punch. As Sagat, duck at the start of the round.
Much better.
Now for Sagat's ultimate rival, and the one who gave him that large scar on his chest, Ryu.
If Ryu moves towards you, he'll usually jump after you and do a jump kick followed by a footsweep. Counter with a standing kick or Tiger Uppercut.
Ryu rarely throws a single Hadouken. Usually at least two in a row. Take advantage of this when you can.
Damn it, I saw it coming but still jumped too soon.
When he stands still, he'll either do a Shoryuken or Hurricane Kick.
In the original Street Fighter, Ryu actually got his *** handed to him by Sagat.
But when Sagat tried to offer a hand to help him up, Ryu unwittingly tapped into the Satsui no Hado power within him.
He then did a deadly Metsu Shoryuken that instantly defeated Sagat and left a large scar on his chest.
Needless to say, it pissed off Sagat a lot. Enough that he joined M. Bison and Shadowlaw to eventually get a rematch against him.
But Sagat later saw the error in holding a grudge the way he did and is now a friendly rival with Ryu.
Sagat is decent in this bonus stage. After doing this run, I think a better way is after destroying the top and left set of bricks, do hard punches on the ground on the right bricks.
Then just do standing kicks on the center bricks. That way you won't have to jump onto the center bricks to destroy the right bricks.
E. Honda often does a Sumo Smash at the start of a round. Do a jump kick to counter.
Darn it. The only downside to Sagat is his jumps are low. Other than that, he's a very good character. Sometimes to the point he's considered to be overpowered.
When Honda jumps back and ducks, sometimes he'll do a Flying Headbutt, which can sail over Low Tiger Shots.
Ha, two in a row. Not often I see him start a Sumo Smash each round.
Darn it. At least we both got hit.
If you didn't see it, E. Honda is invincible for one frame when doing a Sumo Smash, which he takes advantage of to avoid projectiles.
Blanka's speedy jumps can trip you up if you aren't careful. Let him come to you and time your jumps and kick him as usual, but watch for when he jumps too.
When he walks backwards, he'll either do two Aerial Beast Rolls or a fast horizontal one.
When he is constantly jumping TOWARDS you, only counter if you in a position TO counter, otherwise defend until you find an opening.
Darn it! If you don't time your kicks right, you'll trade hits with Blanka's Beast Rolls instead of avoiding damage.
Whew, that was close. Was up against the ropes, there.
Balrog isn't too difficult as Sagat, thanks to his High Tiger Shots. Use them often and counter with high kicks when he jumps and footsweeps when he does his dash attacks.
Holy crap, he was able to jump over it. I never can seem to do that when I play as Balrog.
Damn it.
Sometimes it takes two Tiger Shots to dizzy, sometimes three. It varies and appears to be random.
Darn it. Sagat's punching range is about equal with Balrog's...except I attacked high and he attacked low. And low beats high in this case.
It sucks that playing as Balrog, you have to charge to do a dashing attack, but the computer doesn't have to charge an attack at all.
Barrel smashing time! I find it best to NOT do standing hard kicks, at least not all the time as it slows you down too much to hit the next barrel.
Mix up your attacks as it tends to lessen the chance of a barrel not breaking after a hit.
But, doesn't mean it will work all the time...
I frickin hate that bonus stage. Too much randomness of a barrel breaking or not breaking and usually happens when they're falling at a fast pace.
Vega isn't too difficult, at least not in this game. Jump after him when he does a Wall Jump and straight up as he comes toward you and kick when he gets close.
The only trouble is when he jumps on the fence, as Sagat has no standing uppercut. Time a Tiger Uppercut so that at least you'll trade hits when he jumps off.
But...maybe do a hard Tiger Uppercut instead of a short one...
A strange thing about Sagat in this game is he has no punch attacks in the air. Even if you press a punch button in the air, he'll do a kick.
Damn it, really messing up the timing of my attacks this round.
That's better.
Now for the obligatory mirror match. For some reason, I think Sagat looks better in his Turbo palette than his regular palette in this game.
Let Sagat come to you and time your jumps like with prior opponents, but only for the first 1/4 of his health.
Then wait for him to do Tiger Shots, as he'll alternate heights with each shot. You can either chase after him or fire Low Shots when he fires High shots.
Sagat's AI in this game is surprisingly weak. He is very difficult in future games, for me at least.
Darn it! I wanted to do a Tiger Knee, but I don't think I'll be able to show you, unfortunately :(
Alright, time for the toughest S.O.B. in the game, M. Bison.
.
..
...
Well that went exactly how I wanted it to...
This is a rare time Sagat's height is a total disadvantage. Bison's Head Stomp combined with Sagat's low jump prevents Sagat from countering the Head Stomp with jump kicks.
That's better. When half his health is gone, he'll jump back and do either two slow Psycho Crushers, a fast Psycho Crusher, or a Scissor Kick.
Mistimed the throw there...
After blocking the Head Stomp, use a hard punch instead of a hard kick to counter. The kick won't connect.
That was ***!!!
My Tiger Uppercut did very low damage while his last two attacks took out half my frickin health!!
8-Star Difficulty or not, I got robbed that round.
I'm gonna kick his *** this time around.
It seemed to do slightly more damage that time. Figures.
Take this, ***.
Darn it. I was hoping ducking the Head Stomp would give me an opening to attack. Guess not.
Bison Head Stomps a lot. He'll do at: A) The start of a round; B) After getting up from being knocked down; C) After doing two standing kicks in a row; D) After landing from a jump that doesn't knock him down;
E) After blocking an attack.
Oh son of a...! I got robbed again!!
My attack did VERY little damage while his took me out!! At the very least it should have been a Double KO!!!
Ok, now I'm really pissed off.
Now I'm triply pissed off.
NOT that time ***!!!
I could have uploaded a video undefeated, but I thought this way it would show I'm not perfect and show a little unpredictable-ness.
Since I was a boss character, the ending always has this screen with Bison's army walking through the flames at the bottom and the text scrolling up depicting the character's ending.
Well, hope you enjoyed the video. Since I had to use a continue, the credits will show the characters fighting each other, though without health bars. Enjoy the ending! See you next fight
