(VO - Ben) After a last minute trip to Las Vegas of our trip
across the country.
(Fazio) It's 11:26. Ah, we have 3 hours and 52 minutes
before we get to L.A. Probably stop, you know, some place on the way.
So, we'll get there. We'll have some dinner.
We gotta find Ben a little place to live.
(Ben) Or die. (Fazio) Or die.
(music starts)
(VO - Ben) Once we entered California, we saw signs for a place called "Alien Fresh Jerky".
(music fades out) Our last random stop had presented itself to us.
(music starts)
(VO - Ben) As we walked towards the entrance, we saw a UFO which you could launch for a dollar.
So we thought we would save the best for last,
and check out the store first.
Located in Baker, California. The store offers a huge selection of
jerky, unique food like bacon and cheese crickets,
and all types of alien-themed souvenirs.
It's a fun stop during the day, but it would probably be pretty eerie at night.
Now for the moment we were waiting for. (music resolves)
(laser sound effect) (Alien) So, humans,
are you ready? Ready for the invasion in your future?
Just remember, be happy while you're living on this planet
an abduction in your future I see. So take advantage of the time
you're here. Buy some Alien Fresh Jerky before time runs out.
And brace yourself for immediate disintegration.
(silence)
(Alien) Where's the kaboom?! There's supposed to be an
earth-shattering kaboom!
(silence) (Ben) What happened? (Fazio laughs)
(VO - Ben) The big launch... turned out to be an advertisement.

(VO - Ben) The trip was coming to an end, as we were finally arriving in Los Angeles.
The night before was filled with a series of flashbacks.
Las Vegas was like a giant mall representing many of the places we saw as we traveled across the country.
From New York.
To The Grand Canyon.
And even places we were about to see.

What I learned is that I don't hate traveling... it's that I don't like flying.
That a few hours in the car is not a big deal anymore.
And despite what I thought earlier, I would take another trip like this anytime.
Because by driving across the country I was forced to see things
and have experiences that would have never happened otherwise. Instead of looking at quick
shot of the horizon, I stared at one continuous shot for hours.
Feeling a sense of control and determination that I had never felt before.
Forcing me to make decisions while maintaining a balance of optimism.
And I was reminded why it's important to document everything I do.
Because as I was enjoying the journey, I captured everything I thought I was doing
but it wasn't until I looked back at the images
that I realized what I actually experienced. (music resolves)
