Hello everybody and welcome back to FairgroundsTV. I'm your host Peter Moeller and today we have
a beer from Cooperstown, NY. It is a 7.3 percent ABV and it is a Biere de Garde. I'm going
to try to pronounce. If you can see the label, I'm going to say, and I'm going to cheat.
I think it's called Ommegang Biere D'Hougoumont. I tried to look up the pronunciation online
and I did no good. It's a Biere de Garde, which roughly translated means "beer for keeping."
What they would do, back in the say, is they would brew this beer during the cooler months
where the temperature was more consistent for the brewing period. Then they would cork
finish it and store it for later consumption. Let's see what we got here. Nice deep, dark
copper. Nice carbonation. Nice fine bubbles. Beautiful head, I mean, a couple fingers worth
of head. I'm getting a sweet fruitiness in the nose. Let's give it a sip. I'm getting
that orange zest, that slightly candied kind of flavor to it. It's a little bit fruity.
I'm getting a slight medicinal finish to it, but nothing that's going to turn me off. Nice
and fruity. This is a nice beer. It's a little bit lighter than what the color would intend.
You might think it would be a little bit bitter and might have a little bit on the tongue.
Not much. It's good beer. I believe this is one of their limited editions so check it
out. Ommegang from Cooperstown. We'll see you next time. Enjoy. See you later!
