What scarring is there after a facelift? Of course, this does vary quite a lot on the
type of facelift you have. The very smallest scar would be a one stitch facelift. That
involves a small scar in the hairline in the temple which is invisible.
Moving on, we have short scar techniques, such as the MACS technique, which leaves a
scar in the temple and down in front of the ear. More extensive facelifts involving neck
lift up procedures also include a scar running up in the fold behind the ear and back into
the hairline.
Now, all of these scars heal really well. The only one that is slightly difficult to
conceal, particularly in men, is the scar behind the ear where it can be seen if the
hair is worn up.
Overall, facelifts leave very minor scarring. Most people can't see that you've had a facelift.
But the only caveat to that is if you like to wear your hair up or if you're a man, you
need to think very carefully about the scarring behind the ear. In many of these cases, we
would favour and advise a short scar technique, such as a MACS facelift.
