Hi!!!
Hi!!!
today i want to show you a quick and simple technique to reuse old CDs and DVDs
First you need a StaZon stamppad, that is permanent on nonporous surfaces, like the plastic of the CD.
and cheap scissor, as your expensive ones could be damaged.
You also need a manufactured CD/DVD, as the homemade ones will peel of the silver coat on the back after you have cut them
The images you use have to be a little bit smaller than the CD... for sure ;-)
PS: Excuse my spoken english... it´s weird, I know ;-)
To prevent hurting your eyes if a splinter chips from the DC, please wear glasses/goggles. My CDs never chipped but you can never know... please take care!
Now comes the trick: Heat it! Don´t overheat it, it has to be as hot as fresh toast, so take care not to burn the CD or your fingers! I used a heat gun to heat the CD.
Now the CD can be easily cut with your scissors, as you can see.
First cut a rough shape, so you can handle it much better and cut all the details.
After 30-45 seconds you have reheat the plastic to prevent cracking. Use a tool (like the scissors) to hold the piece.
To cut corners into the image, make two cuts: One cut into the corner, then turn the image in a 90 degree angle and cut, so you get a corner.
If you want to use it as a charm and punch a hole, than use the smallest punch you can find, you CANNOT punch big holes into the plastic. Small ones will work. Reheat before you punch.
done! :-)
You can colour the piece with every colour that will stay on the plastic, like alcohol based inks.
Please comment and send my images of your own ideas with that technique. And subscribe :-)
