(Tagoe:) Developing a policy and passing it with the various governing bodies all the
way to the top to get it approved,
it was a way of selling the concept to those who ordinarily wouldn't even hear about it,
like the top administrators of the university.
(Ngala:) KNUST is a dynamic university. We've got to catch up to the world.
Universities are assessed on different aspects, from publications, from the amount of research work that is done,
from the quality of the information that they have, it all goes toward the university accreditation.
So, it [OER] is going to help the university in the long run.
(Tagoe:) Through the policy I think the top administrators of the university have called
on the various colleges to adopt it [OER] and to implement it at that level beyond what
is happening at the College of Health Sciences.
(Rahman:) With the propogation of the policy, the head of department of Communication Design
has also been given the encouragement to commit funds to get a place which is dedicated for
OER technical production.
Very soon we should be able to have all the equipment we need.
(Koffuor): The vision is to introduce every person to it, whether lecturer or student,
whether technician or head.
Everybody needs to go OER.
So we are going to attempt to go all out and do a lot of promotion because not many people know about it [yet].
(Tagoe:) That's my hope, that we'll be able to bring the other colleges up to speed to
this level where we are, so that as a whole university, we'll be able
to take it up from there and share resources, skills among each other.
