Obama’s bad enough but now I gotta battle a hurricane for attention?
Buzz60 Politics, I'm Jay DeDapper
That’s what Mitt Romney’s gotta be thinking as he preps for his big convention speech.
Hurricane Issac is doing everything possible to mess with the Republican’s plans – forcing
cancellation of the convention’s first day – not that it mattered since network TV
wasn’t going to cover any of it anyway.
And then setting up a terrible storyline by eyeing landfall in New Orleans precisely seven
years to the day after Katrina nearly destroyed the city – while the Federal government
seemed unprepared to help.
It means most Americans will get nothing more from this convention than the few highlights
they see on TV newscasts – and that means Romney will need to wow one crowd more than
any other – political reporters.
Yikes.
After all, who is more jaded than the politeratti? A brat pack that’s been covering every tiny
little detail of this campaign since it began back in early 2011. They’ve descended en
masse on Tampa only to have the weather guy blow them off the screen.
Which actually provides a great opportunity for Romney because their interests are aligned.
Political reporters and Republicans want the same thing right about now – air time. Let’s
see how this plays out.
