Lakeside is the University of Nottingham's public Art Centre and Museum. We present a
year round programme of comedy, music, theatre, dance and work for children and families.
So we are a very eclectic all round provider of Arts and entertainment on campus, and for
the public.
Lakeside's based at the University Park campus right by the lake. The building with the green
roof is the DH Lawrence Pavilion and then we have the Djanogly Art Gallery and the Recital
Hall, and the Museum just across the road.
In terms of big events we have quite a few every year, but our really big ones are Luster
which is our contemporary craft makers' market which happens in November, which really has
become quite an event on the craft calendar in the UK. And also we really pride ourselves
on our Chinese New Year celebrations, January or February each year, where we have attracted
up to 7,000 people here for the most amazing outdoor show on the big stage and then probably
one of the best fireworks displays over the lake that you will ever see, I mean I'm not
just saying that. It is utterly, utterly fantastic.
We've got two exceptional cafes down here. We have the Pavilion Cafe that overlooks the
lake and we have the Gallery Cafe which is just outside the Djanogly Art Gallery where
you can get the best teas and coffees, cakes, patisseries, little bit of a light lunch as
well, and you can just come down here and have a chat, do some studying. We've got Wi-Fi
access as well so you can come down here with your laptop and just chill.
Students get discounted tickets for all of the events at Lakeside but they can also look
out for free tickets on the student portal. Most days we have 20 free tickets to most
events and those are on a first come, first served basis but there are also student discounts
here as well. So come down here with your, your University card and you'll get your discount.
To find out more about Lakeside you can go to our website which is www.lakesidesarts.org.uk.
We're on Facebook, we're on Twitter and you can also get our 'On' brochure which you can
get down here at Lakeside, but also is available across all of the campuses in the University.
