I take pride of being from Barcelona. I brag about it everywhere I go.
I want my city to offer the real thing, what I believe it's real.
I don't feel identified here. A Flamenco dress or a Bull...that's not Barcelona.
People like to see the real thing. When I travel, I like to see around, touch and see things, you know?
I like to be told how things used to be: Why is this business here? What stood here before? How was it?
That's very interesting.
To go to another city to be stumbled upon by other tourist like you,
just to have a beer, you can do that in your own city.
You don't need to travel for that.
I know the reality of Poble Nou, for example, which used to be an industrial neighborhood,
with normal businesses, like bars for workers, and that stuff...
Now it's becoming V.I.P.
4 or 5 new hotels opened up lately...
And well, the hotels bring tourists, and the delinquent looks for tourists...
In Poble Nou there was no insecurity. Now there are burglars and thieves. The same as in Sagrada Familia.
The neighbors are overwhelmed by tourists. They're literally ran over by them.
The walk by in huge groups...but it's not the tourists fault,
It's the City Hall's fault, and the mayor's we've had, and the district leaders...
whio sell themselves, and for a handful of Euros everything goes.
I think Barcelona is a city that has a lot to offer and has to be a touristic place,
it's good for the city. If we lost industry, then we have to make up somewhere else, people have to work.
But tourism has to be regulated.
Here everything goes.
The thing is that not many more can come, for their sake and for ours.
If you go to a place a there's a lot of people you get really overwhelmed also...
You won't enjoy the same...I've seen tourists being led like cattle.
One has to enjoy the places, and no, no, it's too much.
Less people should come. We have to find alternatives.
If there's no industry in Spain, or Barcelona, then we'll find other alternatives,
but whatever we offer, it should be of high quality, like we've always done.
Not low cost. Quality.
