I'm Rick Hovde, one of the founding partners of Hovde Dassow and Deets. I've been practicing
law since 1980. Here at the law firm we handle nothing but plaintiffs personal injury, medical
malpractice claims. During my tenure I've tried in excess of one hundred jury trials
in both personal injury claims and medical malpractice. In order to effectively represent
a client and medical malpractice case you have to have medical resources available to
you, which we do here at Hovde Dassow and Deets. We have two nurses on staff full time,
we have access to the most sophisticated and extensive medical literature databases, we
have a network of physicians who we can consult with and who will review records for us, all
of which is necessary in order to effectively deal with the complicated medical issues that
exist in a medical malpractice case. Every one of our clients has a medical condition
or a medical issue and after thirty years in the field of plaintiffs and medical malpractice
work, you can't help but have learned a great deal about medicine and that combined with
our resources provides for effective, effiicient, and aggressive representation in medical malpractice
claims. We have committed our time and our money to those organizations that preserve
the right to our jury trial system and who are participating in the state legislature
to educate our state representatives and to keep bad legislation from passing. All of
us have been in Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Myself, I have been on the executive committee,
I'm a past president of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. I've spent many years
with the state legislature educating our elected representatives about legal issues and also
defeating bad legislation offered by certain rights groups, corporations, and insurance
companies, chamber of commerce who often try to submit legislation to curtail the rights
of the injured persons. It is by that participation in those things that you can become the most
effective advocate for your clients during the representation and the handling of their
claim.
