Three Things They Didn’t Tell You About Al Quds (Jerusalem)
Al Quds is the third most important city for Muslims,
but it is the only holy city for Jews.
The Jewish Bible mentions Jerusalem over 600 times;
the Qur’an - Zero.
Did you know that in the earliest Muslim sources (al-Muqaddisi)
It was called "Bayt al-Maqdis"?
This comes from the Hebrew name "Beit HaMikdash"
The Holy Temple which King Solomon built in Jerusalem 3000 years ago
King Solomon built the temple on the peak of Mount Zion
where the Haram el Sharif (the Temple Mount) stands today
Since then, Jews have always prayed in the direction of Jerusalem
just like Muslims did before Muhammad, may he be blessed,
changed the qibla from Jerusalem to Holy Mecca.
For Muslims, the holiest part of the Haram al Sharif
is the blessed al-Aqsa Mosque
on the Southern edge of the Haram
but for Jews it is the centre of the Mountain
where the Sakhrah is today.
Last spring, we released our minds
and our hearts,
from the political grip of the dictators.
The result was that we began to define our own destiny.
This spring,
let us open our minds once more
from the ideological shackles
which have distorted the truth about al-Quds for generations
The result will be that we define a destiny of understanding and peace,
in accordance with the spirit of Islam and the Prophet of Islam
"To you your religion and to me mine" (Quran, alKafirun 109:6)
