Hi! This is Mary - Scrapbooking Grandma
Today I'm going to show you how to design a pinwheel card.
I used Bazzill Basic Paper with embossed stockings.
The green cardstock is made by Provo Craft.
I used acrylic gems I bought from Wal-Mart. I adhered them with glue dots.
The striped ribbon I bought from Michaels.
On the inside of the card I used a Martha Stewart Punch Around The Page Snow flurry punch.
I used a stamp from Close To My Heart. The Stamp Set is called Merry Pursuits (B1313)
Then I used a Merry Christmas Stamp
Then I will write my greeting on top of the card.
The pinwheel card can be used as a card or an envelope.
Fold one flap in.
Then fold up the rounded bottom.
Then fold the other flap on top of the rounded bottom.
Then fold in the other rounded flap and tuck half of the flap under the first flap.
Now you have a pinwheel card or envelope.
Let's get started making this Awesome pinwheel card.
Here we are at the Cricut Gypsy.
I have my curser set at 3.87.
I want around a 4 inch card.
Because thats the size envelopes I have available.
I'm going to try to go through the instructions quickly.
I'm going to go to the Cartridge. I'm using George And Basic Shapes Cartridge.
I'm going to select a square.
I'm going to line up the square with the gridlines on my mat.
The square is 3.87 x 3.87. I don't want it exactly 4 inches because I want it to fit in my envelope.
Now I'm going to go back to George And Basic Shapes Cartridge. I'm going to select a circle.
I'm going to put 1/2 the circle inside the square and 1/2 the circle outside of the square.
The circle is 3.87 x 3.87
I'm going to go to the Advanced Tab.
I'm going to select the circle and then press the weld button. I'm going to select the square and then press the weld button.
I'm going to select the circle. The circle will be purple in color because it is welded.
I'm going to duplicate the circle by pressing the copy/paste button.
I'm going to put 1/2 the circle in the square and 1/2 outside the square.
You don't have to weld them because the weld was duplicated in the copy/paste.
I'm going to duplicate that circle using the copy/paste button.
I'm going to follow the same instructions all around the circle.
It is really quick and easy to make.
Now I'm going to go to George And Basic Shapes Cartridge. I'm going to select a rectangle.
I'm going to go to my Basic Tab.
I'm going to adjust the height to 2.50 (2-1/2") The width and height windows are the 2nd row from the top on the right hand side of the Gypsy.
I'm going to move my rectangle over 1/2 of the circle.
Now I'm going to adjust the width and narrow the rectangle.
Now I'm going to weld the rectangle to the other shapes.
Now I'm going to select my rectangle and duplicate it using copy/paste button.
Now I'm going to move my rectangle to the opposite side of the card.
Very simple easy to do. Now here is the preview.
Now I have my cut file for my pinwheel card.
The pinwheel card is not my idea. I saw the card on a video.
I was able to create a file using the Cricut Gypsy
and replicate it.
Where the idea orginated from I don't know. But, I was able to replicate it by seeing a picture of it.
All of the sizing of this pinwheel card was figure out by me.
Now that I have the pinwheel card made I'm going to show you how to cut it out on the Cricut Expression.
I have my paper on my mat.
Now I'm going to load my mat into the Cricut Expression.
I already have my Gypsy plugged into the Cricut Expression.
I'm going to press the cut button. (The Button that looks like a knife.)
Now I'm going to press the load mat button and load my mat.
I'm going to press the cut button again.
A menu appears asking if my blade depth and pressure are set. They are set where I want them at, so I press ok.
Now my pinwheel card is done cutting.
Now I'm going to press unload mat.
Now I'm going to take my card off my mat.
Now I'm going to cut another card using another pattern paper.
I'm going to go ahead and cut this card.
Now I have both of my cards cut out.
Now I'm going to get out my Scor Pal.
I'm going to line up my flaps with the lines on the Scor Pal.
Now I'm going to scor all four sides where my card is going to fold.
Then you just fold your scor lines.
Now I'm going to get my other card and scor the same way.
Now I have my paper trimmer and I'm going to cut off the flaps of one card.
Now the red flaps will be placed on each side of the card.
Now I'm going to adhere the side flaps down.
Now I'm going to use some ribbon I bought from Michaels. It's call Celebrate It Holiday Ribbon.
The ribbon has pine trees on it. I'm going to place the ribbon by the fold of the card.
I'm going to apply my adhesive.
I'm going to apply the ribbon. Then I will trim the ends.
Now I'm going to fold the card.
Then I will add some bling to the card or some acrylic jewels.
I will be offering the .gypsy file on my blog for you to download. My blog is scrapbookinggrandma.blogspot.com
Thats my project for today. Happy Crafting!
