Would 10 cent bottle deposit
encourage fraud from across Minnesota
borders?
So then you're buying your products
over there, not paying the bottle deposit
then bringing it back into Minnesota
and then taxing our system even greater
by getting that refund here.
I think that's going to run rampant
there's no question. It's going to play
out not only in beverage sales, but
you're going to see it in liquor sales
and you're going to see it in your milk
and your dairy. You're going to see it
in everything, and again, those are
dollars and cents leaving Minnesota
and then having to be paid by Minnesota.
It talked about Iowa and they didn't
actually include them because they have
a deposit, but there's is only a nickel
and this would still be a nickel lift.
So, they're going to drive over to Iowa
just as much as they're doing to drive
over to Wisconsin.
This is really another way of nickel
and diming Minnesota consumers?
Absolutely, and really squashing our
entrepreneurial spirit here.
