Welcome to part five of the nine-part FPS boosting guide. My name is Ben and I will
be telling you about RAM in this video. RAM, or Random Access Memory, stores data temporarily
so the processor can access it quickly. To see how much RAM your computer has, click
on the Start Menu, right click Computer and select Properties. Here it will show you how
much Installed Memory (RAM) your computer has. Under that, you will see System Type.
You should be aware that if you are running on a 32-bit version of Windows, it can only
recognize 3 to 3.5GB of installed memory to read from. If this applies to you, I recommend
that you upgrade Windows to a 64-bit version to optimize the use of your RAM. If you are
a serious gamer, it's recommended you have more than 4GB of RAM. The ideal amount would
be 8GB or more, but some motherboards can only handle 2GB, 4GB, etc so research your
motherboard and find its max RAM capacity. There is a program called Crucial System Scanner
and there is a link to it in the description. This program will scan your computer and give
you feedback about what type of RAM you have and how you can improve it. But having more
RAM isn't the only way to have quicker game loading times and certain files being accessed.
In the next part, we will talk about Hard Drives and Solid State Drives.
